While we don’t endorse or defend colonialism, we also believe that Britons and Europeans of today, who never colonised or enslaved anyone, do not have a moral obligation towards people in the Third World of today, who themselves have never been colonised or enslaved.

Furthermore, this argument completely ignores countries that had no real colonial empire such as Sweden, Ireland or Switzerland, to name but three, that are also undergoing dramatic demographic changes why is the same phenomenon happening there too? Why too is the same phenomenon not happening in former colonial powers outside Europe should Turkey be obliged to open its borders because of the Ottoman Empire or Mongolia because of what happened under Genghis Khan?

This argument also supposes that mass immigration is some kind of punishment, and therefore a negative for the host society – I’m glad we agree!
